GROUP THERAPY - MOOSE JAW

why GROUP THERAPY
Group therapy is a powerful venue for growth and change at a fraction of the cost of individual therapy. Unlike individual psychotherapy which focuses on helping you improve through interventions from a therapist, group therapy allows you to observe others in the group, receive valuable feedback, and benefit from social interactions.
Group therapy has the major goal of helping you to transcend your struggles by experiencing your common humanness with others who share similar experiences. The benefits of group therapy are virtually endless by cultivating a community of trust, compassion, respect, and honesty in which you can grow.

Social Learners Group
Social Learners Group is based on Superflex: A Social Thinking ® curriculum, created by Michelle Garcia Winner and Stephanie Madrigal (www.socialthinking.com), and provides a motivating and creative way for children to explore Social Thinking ® concepts while increasing their knowledge of social expectations, their awareness of their own thinking and behaviour, and how to modify their thinking and behavior with flexible strategies.
The goal of this program is to not merely teach social skills or behavioural outputs, but rather this is a result of adapting mindsets to effectively think and behave in different contexts and environments. This takes skill, and some children may need more support and explicit teaching to enhance these skills.
Since the focus is on developing their “social smarts,” it was decided that a group format would be best to teach the program, so that there is ample opportunity to socially engage and interact with others. Please note that this program, including its facilitator, is not affiliated with, nor has it been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by Michelle Garcia Winner and Think Social Publishing, Inc.
Suitable for children ages 9 to 12.
