BA, BEd, MEd Registered Psychologist (APE) (#1101)

Parents of children who struggle with learning often wonder if there is a cause for their child’s difficulty. They may feel uncertain of how to support their child in a way that builds their academic skills and maintains their self-confidence.

Children who continue to have trouble meeting grade-level outcomes despite having received extra support both at school and at home may benefit from a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment. This type of assessment explores the cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioural profile of the child.

A psychological assessment of learning (psycho-educational assessment) provides a collection of information that can be used to inform next steps for families as they work to support their child across a variety of areas of their life. The result may also include the diagnosis of developmental psychological disorder(s) that help to explain the likely reason for the difficulties the child is facing.
