The Connect Crew: A Skills Group for Kids

build confidence, friendships, and emotional understanding

The Connect Crew is a Skills Group to help kids build confidence, friendships, and emotional understanding, together!

Is your child struggling to connect with others, communicate emotions, or cope?

This group is appropriate for both neurotypical and neurodiverse (ADHD, ASD, etc.) children who would like support.

Children have many incredible strengths; creativity, curiosity, honesty, and unique ways of seeing the world. But social and emotional situations can sometimes feel confusing, unpredictable, or overwhelming.

You may notice your child:

  • Has trouble making or keeping friends

  • Feels anxious or frustrated in social settings

  • Misunderstands tone, facial expressions, or social cues

  • Struggles to express emotions in calm or effective ways

  • Feels different, left out, or unsure how to fit in

If this sounds familiar, The Connect Crew can help your child build the tools to feel confident, capable, and connected — both at school and at home.

What This Program Helps With

The Connect Crew is a structured, play-based, and evidence-informed group designed for children in Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8.

Through stories, games, and guided peer interaction, your child will learn skills for:

  • Emotional awareness and regulation

  • Flexible thinking and coping tools

  • Friendship and communication strategies

  • Self-confidence and self-advocacy

  • Understanding social expectations and problem solving

How It Works

  • Group size: 5–8 participants

  • Session length: 60 minutes weekly (45 minutes with children + parents join for the last 15 minutes)

  • Schedule: Weekly sessions, 6 modules of 4 sessions. Register for one module or all 6!

  • Format: In-person, small group setting

  • Facilitators: One psychologist and one co-facilitator (Each group is led by a mental health professional who is a Registered Provider on the Approved Services List for ASD individualized funding. Please check directly with your funding program to confirm eligibility.)

*If you are new to the clinic, you will be scheduled for an intake session with one of our team members to ensure that the group is a good fit, and to gather all necessary information and consents for services.

We Offer Flexible Enrollment

The full program runs for 24 weeks, divided into six 4-week modules.

Families can enroll in the full series or select individual modules based on their child’s needs and interests.

When you enroll in a module, a seat is reserved specifically for your child for all 4 weeks of that module.
Because of this, you’ll be responsible for the cost of each session regardless of attendance. Fees are processed weekly.

Program Modules

Parent Partnership

Each session ends with a 15-minute parent component to help you support your child’s learning at home.

You’ll receive:

  • Weekly take-home handouts summarizing key skills

  • Practical strategies to reinforce progress

  • Guidance on communication, expectations, and emotional coaching

Because growth happens fastest when parents and children work together.

By the end of this program, you’ll likely notice your child:
✓ Handles emotions with more calm and understanding
✓ Communicates more clearly and confidently
✓ Feels more included and connected with peers
✓ Uses flexible thinking to solve problems
✓ Develops greater self-esteem and self-awareness
