PLAY THERAPY - MOOSE JAW
CHILDREN - play therAPY
Children connect through play to express thoughts and feelings. By transferring their emotions and experiences to toys through play they are able to feel safe by distancing themselves from upsetting experiences.
Play therapy is an evidence-based approach which means that research demonstrates its effectiveness in helping children to communicate better, express difficult feelings, develop problem-solving skills, and relate to others in a positive way.
Theraplay strategies are also used in sessions to support playful and healthy interactions between caregiver and child with a focus on qualities of Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. This parent-child engagement works to reinforce the child’s sense of self-worth by practicing a positive and rewarding relationship dynamic.
